Tap
Tap dance encourages rhythm, coordination and musicality as well as a strong technique.
Examinations are designed to encourage, develop, motivate, support and reward students of all ages and abilities, by allowing them to follow a structured syllabus recognised by GQual. Although it is not necessary for students to take exams.
BTDA offers more than graded examinations. Rose Awards are a stepping stone for junior students towards the comprehensive BTDA Medal system. These awards are performed to an examiner in groups up to 4 and can be assisted by a teacher. These awards are available to candidates up to the age of 10 years.
BTDA also offers a Medal Test which is a performance-based award system, where candidates perform in front of an audience and therefore gain the necessary skills, experience and confidence required for a performance, this is a fantastic way to gain confidence for the performance side of dance. All awards in the Medal Tests can be taken in either a solo, duet, trio, group or troupe form.
These awards are available to candidates of all ages. There are 13 levels for a candidate to progress through starting with the Bronze Medal all the way to a Cup.
Our ages are guidelines, students are always put into class on ability. If you are unsure which class for your child to attend, please don’t hesitate to contact Miss Elizabeth.
