Time to reward all of that hard work

We give all our school students the opportunity to take part in our Medal Test and Performance Award. This will be in your normal class time. This is a great introduction for our students for any future exams and helps in preparation for our showcases for new students. This is not compulsory but is great experience for all our students. This is offered to all our school students from Little Stars upwards but for Little Stars please note below the alternative requirements.

There are three levels to our Medal Test system.

Students will be required to perform their group piece for our show, perform a freestyle piece (where they make up the dance on the spot). Students will also be asked a couple of questions for example – ‘why do we need to warm up?’ and ‘why is it important to wear correct uniform?’ (these points have/ will be spoken about beforehand).

This is for ages 8 years +. This will involve performing on their own, demonstrating 2 chosen exercises from class along with some of the requirements from the bronze medal test.

This will involve students performing a solo set by Miss Elizabeth, a costumed own choreography piece (no longer than 2 minutes) and an own choreography duet, trio, quartet or troupe, along with some of the requirements from the silver medal test.

Students must take the medals in the order – bronze, silver and gold to show progression. It will be in an exam setting with Miss Elizabeth examining. This will take up approximately 15 mins and the rest of their class will be as normal.

Bronze medal tests will be taken in class time and will not affect anyone who does not wish to take part – your class will be as normal.  Silver and Gold medal tests will have a separate examination date. Students will receive a certificate and medal if the required standard is reached.

Gradings will be – pass, merit & distinction. For any students who are new or who have not had any experience please don’t worry – we will practice in class time and everyone will know exactly what to do. There is a fee per medal test for our Medal Test & Performance Award. You can ask reception for more information.

Little Stars – Little stars will be observed in class and will also be asked to show the following expressions as a group: happy, sad, surprised and angry.
